Steady Prandtl layer expansions with external forcing

چکیده
In this article we apply the machinery developed by Guo and Iyer [Validity of Steady Prandtl Layer Expansions, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. (to appear) (2022)] together with a new compactness estimate quantity, “degree”, in order to prove validity steady layer expansions external forcing. The techniques introduced allow us treat more general background layers than (2022)].

Oscillations of a layer of viscoelastic fluid under steady forcing
We study the dynamics of a layer of viscoelastic fluid, in the Stokesian regime, that is driven from below by a 4 4 checkerboard pattern of rotating and counter-rotating disks. At low disk rotation rate (low Weissenberg number) the fluid flow response is slaved to the geometry of this forcing and divides into many steadily rotating cells, each contained within invariant manifolds issuing from h...
متن کاملResponse of the Cavity Shear Layer Oscillations to External Forcing
Influence of eKternally forced initial flow conditions on aKisymmetrlc cavity shear layer was studied. A sinusoidally heated strip upstream of the cavity eKcited Tollmlen·Schllchtlng waves that, after amplification by the boundary layer, were introduced to tbe cavity shear layer. It is shown that by selecting a forcing frequency, which satisfies a phase difference criterion between two comers o...
متن کاملTransient Natural Convection Flow on an Isothermal Vertical Wall at High Prandtl Numbers: Second-Order Approximation
The method of matched asymptotic expansions, which has been used in previous studies of steady natural convection flow, is extended here to transient natural convection flow at high Prandtl number (Pr). Second-order expansion solutions, valid for large Prandtl numbers, are presented for the transient natural convection flow near a vertical surface which undergoes a step change in temperature. T...
متن کاملEffect of External Forcing on Droplet Dispersion in a Developing Shear Layer
The dynamics and dispersion of nonevaporating droplets in a forced transitional shear layer are studied. The shear layer is formed by two coflowing parallel streams downstream of a splitter plate. The effects of periodic forcing on the dynamics of large-scale vortical structures and on the dispersion characteristics of droplets in a spatially and temporally developing shear layer are investigat...
